As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Family Medical and Leave Act (FMLA) that went into law in 1993, it’s a good time to look back at the way this workplace law made it possible for millions of hard-working Americans and their families to experience more work life balance. In honor of this milestone, The HR Writer has created a special infographic that highlights the facts around this employment law. (Feel free to re-publish this infographic on your own HR/career related site, with a link back to this post)

In case you are not familiar with the FMLA, this law gives eligible employees the option of taking up to 12-weeks of job protected leave to take care of a serious medical issue, care for an immediate family member, parent a new child, or care for a wounded or sick member of the Armed Forces. Since it’s incept, over 50 million Americans have benefited from this law.
