Could not make it to SHRM 2012? Then Get the Social Scoop!

Every year, thousands of Human Resources professionals and vendors flock to a different big city for a 3-day HR extravaganza.  It’s thrilling to be able to be among peers to talk about the latest and greatest HR topics from healthcare reform to HR technology. If you are able to go, then count yourself among the elite lucky HR pros who get to experience this event, and come back with a renewed sense of purpose.

Unfortunately, I like many others could not attend SHRM this year due to work commitments. But that doesn’t mean I am not getting into the swing of things through the wonder of social media! This year, SHRM announced the addition of an online “social circle” to not only connect conference attendees, but to also provide a platform for all HR professionals to share.

But that’s not all!

Head on over to Facebook and like the SHRM page for even more insight and resources, including access to many articles and updates.

If you are a Tweeter, head for #SHRM12 for real time posts from attendees.

There are many benefits of going to annual conferences and also becoming a part of local SHRM chapters. As an HR professional, learning and being active in the HR community can make a huge difference in your ability to be effective in your role. Consider getting more involved in what makes HR such a great career, and plan on attending a future SHRM event.
